ABOUT ME
I am a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I abide by the BACP’s Ethical Framework and have regular supervision.
I have a degree in education and a Post graduate certificate in Mentoring and Coaching. As an integrative counsellor I draw upon a number of theoretical approaches but have a particular interest and specialist training in trauma focused therapy. I work with survivors of sexual trauma and domestic abuse for a local charity. This work is cross cultural and includes people from the LGBTQ community and from young teens to adults.
I have a long background in education working with young people from 5 to 18 as a teacher, mentor and governor.
I have worked at a University as a student counsellor too and as well as adults I offer counselling to young people from 14 upwards.
Our minds and bodies have a unique interconnectedness. My own practice as a counsellor is shaped by my love of the outdoors and the healing power of nature. I use my love of yoga, running, walking and sea rowing to inform my practice and work authentically when I use somatic work with clients.
I am trained to work online and have worked extensively during the pandemic this way. I am continuing to offer sessions via Zoom if this is preferred.
